Prizes and Judging The poems will be judged by a jury of leading Nabati poets and experts according to specific criterial. They will examine poems by considering the beautiful rhythmic structure, the aesthetics of describing the falconry, expressing the condition of the falconer and his unique relationship with his bird, and the importance of the hunting trip for him. Conditions The competition is open to Nabati poetry and poets of all nationalities. Participants must be between 18 and 28 years old. The poem must be new and not previously published in any media. The poem must be printed and composed of 15-25 verses in accordance with the principles of Nabati poetry. Submissions must include an audio recording of the poem recited by the poet and a brief biography of the author. The Higher Organizing Committee reserves the right to print and publish winning poems. Entries must be only sent by email to competitions@adihex.com no later than August 31, 2021. The results will be announced during the exhibition. The winner in each category may be invited to participate in the Poetry Evening which will be held at the exhibition. Objectives The competition brings together two ancient arts from the Gulf region, namely, the immensely popular Nabati poetry, which expresses genuine Arabian and communal values and outlooks, and falconry which is one of the most important pillars of authentic Arab heritage. This year’s edition of the competition at ADIHEX 2021 targets young poets as part of the Higher Organizing Committee’s efforts to encourage and motivate younger generations of amateurs and enthusiasts of this authentic art to develop their creative and literary skills and safeguard this cultural heritage. Nabati poetry is the most popular genre of traditional Arabic poetry as is evident by the number of poems being written and the number of fans and participants in the art. This reflects the beauty and relevance of Nabati poetry in touching the sentiments of the society members, it expresses their daily lives, interests and aspirations in a smooth language and an enjoyable style.
